Top six for Van der Mark, Lamborghini twelfth in Superstock 1000 points debut

The Dutchman had a decent start and was seventh after the first lap. Unfortunately, Van der Mark lost a lot of ground by a number of heavy battles early in the race. But as ever, the Ten Kate Junior Team rider recovered strongly and finished sixth, very near the top five.

Michael van der Mark (STK600): “I had a good getaway but I hit a false neutral between first and second gear and that cost me a lot of time. During the race I had some engine temperature problems so I lost top power, especially when exiting a corner, and I had to brake very late every time. Sixth place isn´t bad at all but I want and need more. Frenchman Romain Lanusse and Australian Jed Metcher scored no points today so the championship is still open. I’m looking forward to Silverstone!”

Ferruccio Lamborghini has scored four valuable points in his first Superstock 1000 FIM Cup race on the Ten Kate Junior Team Honda Fireblade. An impressive achievement given the short preparation. Like Van der Mark yesterday, Lamborghini has a decent start as he was in seventeenth spot after one lap. During the race, he came further and further forward. Halfway through Lamborghini was in fourteenth position. In the final laps, he passed Aussie Beau Beaton and Italian Marco Bussolotti and finished the race in twelfth place.

Ferruccio Lamborghini (STK1000): “I’m satisfied with my race. Of course, twelfth place is not our goal for the other races but given the short preparation it is a good result. We had a long wait on the grid before the starting procedure began and that caused some problems with the clutch. Fortunately, things improved after two laps but then I was stuck in heavy traffic. After several fierce battles, I could get away from the others. The last part of the race was nice. I was in a good rhythm and I clocked fast lap times. After this promising weekend, I´m looking really forward to the next race at Silverstone!”
